Limit VSTs in Video Editors
Working Knowledge, Advanced, Technical
Load only specific VSTs to use in your video editor and set the path in the program options. This will cut down the scan time, and you can control which plugins are available. It can add stability.
In addition to being a graphic/web designer, I produce music. The video editors I use, VEGAS Pro and Filmora, support VST use for audio processing. Paths to VSTs can be set in the Settings or Preferences for each application. I have a lot of VST plugins. When you scan for plugins the first time it can take a very a long time. Having so many plugins and trying to use certain ones with VEGAS made it unstable and VEGAS can be pretty crashy without added issues.
To minimize the scan and instability, I selected my go-to limiters, compressors, EQs , etc. and copied them into a separate folder. I removed the standard VST paths and updated my preferences to only look in the folder I specified. Now I have the stock VSTs and only the ones I need.
