Content Cleanup for Designers
All Levels, Foundational
Designers don’t just lay out content — half the job is cleaning, translating, and politely fixing whatever lands in the inbox. This covers the everyday cleanup tasks that keep projects moving and save your sanity.
The “One-Pager” That’s Really a Five-Pager
Clients swear it’s a one-pager… until you open the attachment and realize there’s enough copy to launch a congressional campaign. This is where you become part designer, part editor. Tell them what will fit and request a creative editing license while keeping it professional.
Your Move:
- Identify the core message. Don’t rewrite anything without approval.
- Pull out bullets, headers, and essentials.
- Save all the “1987 origin story” material in a “long version” doc.
- Suggest that they add a call to action, even if it’s informational. See our website for more…
If all the text they’ve sent is truly essential, you might want to suggest that they do just the highlights for the one page and send users to a website or other platform for complete details. If you send them to a landing page, you can collect some basic information or have them subscribe to your email list.
