Learn About Aspect Ratios
All Levels, Working Knowledge, Technical
Fill the space on your social media post. Design for each platform (use Resize features in Canva and Adobe Express). It will look more professional.
If you are creating anything for social media or even presentations, you need to understand what it is. Social media platforms have different post sizes and recommended pixel sizes. Think portrait and landscape. For example, regular Instagram posts are at an aspect ratio of 4:5, and reels and stories are 16:9. They used to be 1:1 – which is a perfect square. Aspect ratios vary, and even when social media platforms post recommendations, your post still could look crazy. It could get cropped or have bars along the sides (Facebook is notorious for this). The best way to make sure you are filling the space on your posts is to alter the design for each platform. Canva and Adobe Express make it easy to resize posts, though this is usually a pro or subscription feature. Another thing to be aware of is safe space. This is the area where you don’t want to put any important graphics or critical information, as it could get cropped out or obscured by the app’s user interface. (UI)

Clean & Manage Your Canva Uploads
It’s considered safe to delete uploads you no longer need. The uploaded graphic will remain in the project you’ve used it in. Also, name your files accurately so they are searchable in your uploads. Better yet, use upload folders to keep them tied to a specific project.
Exporting Files from Canva
Keep yourself sane! Use naming conventions and export Canva files in the same way every time to keep them organized.
