Making Photoshop Artboards After the Fact
Working Knowledge
Draw a selection box the same size as your artwork, and then use the "Artboard from Layers" function.
Have you ever started or opened a Photoshop file with no artboards and then decided you want to use them? There are options to “make artboards from layers” and “make artboards from group,” but these usually create an artboard that is NOT the pixel size of my initial document. “Artboards From Layers” creates a layer that matches a trimmed version of the image. If you have a logo or icon with transparency, it will crop to the trimmed dimensions. You can set your pixel size if you use the group from layers option, but that’s kind of a pain. The solution: draw a selection box the same size as your artwork, and then use the “Artboard from Layers” function.
