If you ever need to extract images embedded (usually pasted) in Word and want to keep the original formats and resolutions, here’s a quick way to do it.
-
Make a copy of the .doc/.docx file and save it to a drive.
-
Locate the file and change its extension from doc/docx to zip. Confirm the change if necessary.
-
Extract the file to a new folder.
-
The images will be in a “media” folder with a path like docname/word/media/
If you have access to Acrobat or a PDF editor that can extract images, you can also save the doc as a PDF and use the extract function there.
