I can’t be the only one. I think some people were surprised how quickly I was able to make music digitally. What they probably don’t know is that I used nonlinear audio and video editors twenty years ago. I used audio editors to clean up sound or to do narration for videos I produced for clients.
It wasn’t until the pandemic that I started making music for the first time. I didn’t care if I was too “old.” But I learned quickly that the applications I was using couldn’t do everything I needed.
- Ableton Lite: I got a license with something I bought. It was okay, but I kept looking for something else.
- MPC Beats/MPC Software: After watching DJ Scratch make beats live, I went to see if AKAI made software that emulated the hardware version he used. They kind of did.
- Studio One: I liked S1 because it was sexy. I’m a graphic designer, so I appreciate a clean UI.
